Being very hip and New Age, I was having a texted conversation with a friend who is going through treatment for a serious illness. We were extolling the virtues of daughters at the bedside, and her daughter, appropriately named Georgia, has been a perfect peach. Here was my final word on the subject:
Who will take care of the aging parents who only have sins?
No offense to my own Freudian slip of a son, but I can kinda' see where that came from!

Very funny. It pays to have at least one daughter. I had no children, so will have to euthanize myself.
Funny.
How right you are to worry about those "sins." When my parents were aged and in need of help, only we sisters were anywhere to be found. My brother? "Too busy." I hope I've trained my own sons better but it could be in the wiring. I guess I better start being nice to my nieces!
When it came to the acutal caring for my husband's mother...guess who did it..the one she couldn't stand..me. We were the only ones,so it did fall to us and I did all of the nitty gritty..down to having to remind him that we needed to go and see her. I am thankful that I do have one daughter. Used to think my son would take care of me, but I don't anymore. There is a saying, "be nice to your children, they pick your nursing home."
That's the truth about the daughter in law! I am now the main caregiver for my husband's mom. Interesting that I wasn't quite up to snuff when we got married all those years ago. But, I'll do now, since her son can't stand her. I think we should be nice to our daughters in law, since they'll be the ones doing the heavy lifting when doomsday comes!
Oh, that's funny!! But not as funny as the assicon you left for me!! I love it. Thanks!
As they say, "A son is a son till he takes him a wife, a daughter's a daughter the rest of her life."
I only have sins, uh, sons...
